Judy Denman’s Recent Works
September 16 - October 20Free
ABOUT THE ARTIST Judy painted her 1st oil painting under the direction of her great aunt, Jess Crotty, in 1975 as a senior project at Summit High School. Judy moved to Miami and pursued her art and graduated from Ringling School of Art in 1980 with a degree in Graphic Design. Art continued to inspire and be a part of Judy’s life while moving around the country and raising her four children with Kevin, her husband. Between being an art docent in school, creating a home studio, studying painting and figure drawing, Judy is a lifetime devotee to evolving as an artist. In addition to creating her own art, Judy teaches students of all ages in her home studio. Judy is a member of the NJ Center for Visual Arts and the Morris County Art Association and looks forward to contributing to the local artist community.
ARTIST STATEMENT Welcome, and I hope that you enjoy my show. Putting this show together has given me perspective. It is very interesting for me to see how my art and life have changed, how some things remain and much is gone, how understanding and surrender can bring contentment and assent with each day, or within a painting. One of the changes I’ve experienced is, I began giving art lessons eight years ago. Compiling this show, I see that much of this work originated from a particular lesson with a student. My students are a great joy to me, and many of these pieces come from teaching moments with them. I am a colorist in my work, favoring oil paint and soft pastel as my choice of mediums. I hope that my work brings some color into your day. Thank you for your attendance and for your continued support. Judy Denman
