Spiritual Cinema ~ Our feature: You & Me

January 24 @ 6:45 pm - 9:30 pm

Get ready to fall madly in love with Ella and Tony and laugh a lot along the way. Also, please be prepared for some very salty language, non-PC dialogue and images.
In our remarkable feature a deaf woman and a recently blind man meet and fall in love with unpredictable, touching, hilarious, and emotional results. The film was written and directed by the husband of the actress, Hilary Baack, who stars as Ella (she is actually deaf); and the actor playing Tony, Paul Guyet, is indeed visually-impaired. Get your handkerchiefs ready— for tears of laughter and poignant recognition, and for a reminder of who we can be as human beings when we operate at our very best.

Our shorts begin with CODA, a beautiful film about a young dancer who is literally stuck between two worlds, both of which eye her warily as her dance instructor think she plays it too safe, while others see her as too risk-oriented. Little do they all know the fierce warrior within her!

In the unique and completely original North London Book of the Dead (yes, it’s a quirky comedy), we find that our dearly departed may be much more “with us” than we know. Oh, and it also answers the question, “whatever happened to Matthew Crawley?” for Downton Abbey fans.

In our last short this month, a man who has been struggling with loneliness and depression learns that helping someone else is The Gift that keeps on giving for us all.
